At-home hormone test
Dried urine panel, collected at home
A detailed hormone test you collect at home on four small urine strips across one day. It covers oestrogen and how you clear it, progesterone, androgens, your cortisol rhythm and melatonin, and we read it together in a results consultation.
This is the hormone test I reach for when someone’s cycle, sleep, mood or energy has gone sideways and a single blood test hasn’t explained it. It’s run by NutriPath as the EndoMAP panel (test code 1501), and it uses dried urine collected at four points across a day, and that timing is the point, cortisol and melatonin move a lot over 24 hours and a one-off blood draw at 9am only catches a snapshot.
The other thing I really like about it is that it shows how you metabolise oestrogen as well as how much you have. Two women with the same oestradiol level on a blood test can be clearing it down quite different pathways, and that tends to matter for heavy periods, breast tenderness and premenstrual symptoms, and a standard blood test just doesn’t show that.
It’s a dense report, which is why the consultation comes with it. We go through it together and I’ll tell you plainly which parts matter for you and which are just interesting.
Who it suits
Who this test is for
- Irregular, absent or heavy periods
- PMS, mood dips or an energy crash in the second half of your cycle
- Perimenopause symptoms, or monitoring while on HRT
- PCOS, acne or hair changes where androgens are a question
- Getting a clearer picture before trying to conceive, or alongside IVF
- Fatigue, brain fog or poor sleep where the standard bloods came back normal
- Low libido
Before you order
A few things I’ll check with you
- If you have a cycle, the day you collect matters (usually the second half, around day 19 to 22 of a 28-day cycle). I'll confirm the right day with you before ordering.
- If you're on the pill or another hormonal contraceptive, some sections of the report are less useful. Let's talk before you order.
- If you're pregnant, this isn't the right test.
- Tell me about any hormone therapy, HRT or supplements you're taking. Some need a pause before collection.
- You can do this from anywhere in Australia. No blood draw, no clinic visit.
What you get
What the report covers
Oestrogens and how you clear them
Oestrone, oestradiol and oestriol, plus the 2, 4 and 16 hydroxy pathways and the methylation ratios that show which route your body is using to break oestrogen down.
Progesterone metabolites
Pregnanediol and allopregnanolone, the markers I look at for luteal phase support, PMS-type symptoms and sleep in the second half of the cycle.
Androgens
DHEA, testosterone, DHT and their metabolites. Relevant for acne, hair changes, libido and PCOS pictures.
Cortisol and cortisone rhythm
Free and total cortisol and cortisone at four points across the day, so we can see the shape of your stress response.
Melatonin
Your overnight melatonin output, which I find useful when sleep is part of the story.
Organic acids and nutrient markers
Markers linked to B12, B6 and glutathione status, neurotransmitter breakdown products and a marker of oxidative stress (8-OHdG).
Endocrine disruptors
BPA, PFAS and several heavy metals including lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic, which can interfere with hormone signalling.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as a DUTCH test?
It's the same type of test: hormones and their metabolites measured in dried urine. DUTCH is the name of a US lab's version. EndoMAP is NutriPath's Australian panel, and it's the one I use.
Why urine rather than blood?
Blood tells you how much hormone is circulating at the moment the needle goes in. Urine collected across a day shows the rhythm of cortisol and melatonin, and it shows the metabolites, which is how I see the pathways you use to clear oestrogen. For the questions I'm usually asking, that's more useful. But blood still has its place, and if you have recent results I'd like to see them too.
How do I collect the sample?
Four small strips: first thing in the morning, again a couple of hours later, early evening and at bedtime. You either dip the strip in urine caught in a clean cup or wee directly onto it, let them dry, and post them back in the packaging provided. NutriPath includes clear instructions in the kit.
When in my cycle do I collect?
For most women, the second half of the cycle, so we can see progesterone properly. I'll work out the right day with you based on your cycle length before I place the order. If you don't have a cycle, we can collect any day.
How long until I get results?
Usually 7 to 10 business days after the lab receives your strips. They come to me, and I'll email you to book your consultation as soon as they land.
Do I need to be on the Gold Coast?
No. The kit is posted anywhere in Australia and our consultation is over video.
