Privacy policy

This explains what we collect, why, where it is kept, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Last updated 15 September 2026

Sprout Natural Health provides naturopathy and acupuncture services. Because we are a health service provider, we are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles regardless of our size, and by the My Health Records Act where it applies. We also follow the record-keeping requirements of our professional associations.

What we collect

When you contact us or book: your name, email address, phone number, and whatever you choose to write in a message or booking note.

When you become a client: health information. That includes your health history, symptoms, medications and supplements, test and pathology results, and the notes and treatment plans we create in the course of your care. Health information is classed as sensitive information and carries higher protection under the Privacy Act.

When you use this website: standard analytics data through Google Analytics, including pages visited, approximate location, device and browser, and how you arrived. This is aggregated and is not used to identify you.

We only collect health information with your consent, and only what is reasonably necessary to provide your care. You can decline to answer anything, though it may limit what we can safely advise.

Why we collect it

  • To provide naturopathic and acupuncture care, and to keep proper clinical records.
  • To contact you about appointments, results and treatment plans.
  • To meet our professional, insurance and legal obligations.
  • To improve the website, using aggregated analytics.

We do not sell your information. We do not use your health information for marketing.

Where it is stored, and who else can see it

Clinical records are held in our practice management system. Appointment, contact and payment information may be held by the service providers that run our booking, payment, email and website systems. Some of those providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States, which means your information may be held overseas. We choose providers that offer appropriate security, and we disclose only what each one needs to do its job.

We may share your information:

  • With your other health practitioners, where you have asked us to or agreed to it.
  • With pathology labs or dispensaries, to arrange testing or a prescription for you.
  • Where we are required or authorised by law.
  • Where there is a serious and imminent threat to someone's life, health or safety, as the Privacy Act permits.

We do not disclose your information to anyone else without your consent.

How long we keep it

We retain adult clinical records for at least seven years from your last appointment, and for records created while you were under 18, until you turn 25. That reflects the record-keeping standards we work to. Contact enquiries that do not become client records are kept only as long as needed to respond to you.

Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, as APP 11 requires. That includes access controls, encrypted storage and transmission through our providers, and limiting who can see clinical records to the practitioners involved in your care. No system is perfectly secure, and if a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal and health information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Email hello@sproutnaturalhealth.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. There are limited situations where we may need to refuse access, and if that happens we will explain why in writing.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to understand how people find and use it. You can block cookies in your browser settings or use Google's opt-out tools, and the site will still work.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your information, please tell us first at hello@sproutnaturalhealth.com.au so we can try to put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
