Cheek swab, collected at home
A one-time cheek swab that reports on 92 genes affecting how you process nutrients, hormones, stress, inflammation and toxins, including MTHFR and COMT. Read with me, and worth doing once.
Your genes don’t change, so this is a test you only ever do once. It’s NutriPath’s myDNA Comprehensive Health Report (test code 8009), a simple cheek swab you do at home, and it looks at 113 variants across 92 genes, grouped into digestion, energy and methylation, hormones, stress and cognition, inflammation, detoxification, DNA repair and athletic performance.
I find it most useful as a background layer. If your MTHFR or COMT variants mean you process folate or clear oestrogen a certain way, that shapes how I approach your hormones or a preconception plan, but what it gives me is tendencies, and for what’s actually happening in your body today I look at the hormone and gut tests, or your bloods. Preconception is where I like having it most, it’s one of the few times I get to plan ahead with someone and I really enjoy that part of the work.
But it’s easy to over-read a genetic report, having a variant is really common and rarely dramatic on its own, and part of what we do in the consultation is put it in proportion.

Before you order
A few things I’ll check with you
- The panel includes the APOE gene, which some people would rather not know about. If that's you, tell me and we'll talk it through before you order.
- Results take longer than the other tests: around four to five weeks (21 to 24 business days).
- The kit includes instructions on when and how to swab.
- For children, talk to me first.

Genes affecting lactose and gluten responses and FADS1 and FADS2, which govern how well you convert plant omega-3s.

Frequently asked questions
Will it tell me why I feel the way I do right now?
On its own, no. Genes only describe tendencies, what’s actually happening today shows up in the hormone and gut tests, or in your bloods. The DNA report helps me understand why a pattern might keep coming back and what kind of support is likely to suit you.
What about my data?
Your sample and report are handled by NutriPath and myDNA under their privacy policies, and your report comes to me as your practitioner. Both policies are on their websites, and I'm happy to send you the links before you order.
How is the sample collected?
A cheek swab, rubbed inside your cheek for a short time and posted back in the packaging provided. No blood, no clinic visit.
How long until I get results?
Around 21 to 24 business days. It's the slowest of the tests I offer. When the report lands, I'll email you to book your consultation.
Do I need to be on the Gold Coast?
No. The kit is posted anywhere in Australia and our consultation is over video.
